Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza will
release her autobiography, Ace Against Odds
on this July, as confirmed by publisher Harper Collins. The Women’s Doubles
World No. 1 tennis star Mirza has penned her journey so far with her father
Imran Mirza. Her autobiography records her ‘rise to the top’. Reports said that
the book is ‘peppered with anecdotes’ about the hardships and triumphs Sania
fielded in her journey.
The 29-year-old ace tennis player said about her
book: “I hope the book is a useful roadmap to guide the next generation of
tennis players from India. If my story can inspire even one youngster to the
heights of winning a Grand Slam in the future, I will feel blessed.”
The Hyderabadi tennis girl came to fame at only 16
year of age after she won the Wimbledon’s Champions Girls’ Double title and was
ranked India’s No.1 player by the Women’s Tennis Association, said reports. In
her way to fame, the tennis star, who also became a fashionesta of her
generation, announced her retirement from the singles circuit in 2012.
A high-profile tennis star indeed, who is married to
Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, Mirza has been also listed in the Time’s list
of 100 most influential personalities, along with Raghuram Rajan and Priyanka
Chopra. A winner of Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, Padma Shri and Arjuna award, Sania
also received the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civil award in this
march.
